Description
Gellilydan Calvinistic Methodist Chapel is said to have been built in 1820. It was out of use by c.1875 (OS 1/2500 Map) and the building was demolished in 1960. It was built in the vernacular style with twin doorways, was of short-wall entry plan and had a half-hipped roof. A chapel house was attached. The complex was later described as Chapel Terrace. It is possible that the early dates applied to Maentwrog Uchaf Calvinistic Methodist Chapel (NPRN 8554) actually apply to this building, i.e. built in 1810. If so, then the date of closure probably corresponds to the enlargement in 1864 or the rebuilding in 1879.
