Description
Dating from 1799, the upper feeder at Abercynon supplied water to the Glamorganshire Canal (nprn 34425). The river weir at the confluence of the Taff and the Bargoed Taff (at approximately ST 0965 9642) has gone but the feeder is visible on the west bank of the River Taff to where it was intersected by the later Taff Vale Railway before it entered the Abercynon flight of locks just below Lock 20/21 (nprn 34417) at approximately ST 0857 9517.
