One of a scattering of disused (limestone?) quarries in an area pitted with the traces of earlier lead mining.
A small quarry is depicted on the 2nd edition OS County series (Flint. IX.6 1899), but does not appear on the 1st edition of 1875. It had expanded to something close to its present size on the 3rd edition of 1912.
