Description
A stretch of disused engineered roadway branches from the old turnpike (NPRN 91903) towards Cae-r-tyddyn. The road takes the form of a raised causeway with quarry pits arrayed along its fringes. A 270m stretch is visible from the air, running generally north-south from SH78821789 to SH78841762. A further 120m stretch can be seen 150m to the south, running to meet the modern trunk road at a near right angle.

The road clearly pre-dates the walled fields of Cae'r-tyddyn farm, but two discrete patches of curving plough ridges to the west appear to respect its line. The road is perpetuated by a path shown on the 1st edition OS County series (Merioneth. XXXIV.13 1888; XXXVIII.1 1889). It has been claimed as a Roman road, although this identification is disputed. References can be found attached to NPRN 91903.
