Old Stradey House, the original house of the Lewis family, was replaced c1850 by the present Stradey Castle (NPRN: 17825). The house had been extensively modernised c1820, resulting in 'probably the biggest front elevation in Carmarthenshire having 26 windows on the front'. It was a symetrical, hipped roof house with a porch supported by columns.
