A nineteenth century(?) keeper's lodge set below the eastern flank of Ruabon Mountain. The house, with its anciliary buildings and enclosures, is encircled by a prominent tree ring.
Mountain Lodge has been described as the administrative centre for the Wynnstay shooting preserve on the mountain. In the nineteenth century shooting specially reared 'game' birds was considered a sport. Long lines of shooting butts remain on the Mountain.
Something of the Lodge's developement can be seen on early editions of the OS County series (Denbigh. XXXV.1 1873-1912).
