Description
Aberystwyth Isolation Hospital, Pen-yr-angor, is a long, single-storey, slate roofed building with a central gable and lean-to extension. Built c1900 as an isolation hospital for tuberculosis patients, it is situated on the east bank of the river Ystwyth opposite Tanybwlch Beach. It superseded an earlier hospital (nprn 423451) which stood to the southwest on Tanybwlch Beach on the west bank of the Ystwyth. It is thought to have been closed as a hospital in 1946, when its function as a hospital was transferred to Plas Tanybwlch (nprn 407475), and now in use as private flats.
