Description
This building is a purpose-built cider house dated 1754 which survives largely unaltered. The cider house was built nine years after Cwm farmhouse, probably by William Watkins. Inside the building, the ground floor has rare eighteenth century cider fittings which survive in situ including a cider mill with drive shaft, circular stone trough, and stone mill wheel. There is also a cider press with a big spiral-turned wooden screw. There is an apple loft on the first floor and set into the loft floor are angled stone slabs which form a chute to the lower mill. The cider house is built of rubble stone and the exterior is symmetrical with a two storey front. The first floor has a central datestone inscribed
