Coleg Harlech originated as Plas Wernfawr, built in 1908 to the designs of George Walton, and was established as an adult college in 1927. The complex consists of the former Plas Wernfawr with a later library wing adjoining and other 1930s additions and alterations. The main (former house) section is a fine early twentieth-century Arts and Crafts Georgian style building of two storeys, constructed of slatestone with squared, snecked, quarry-dressed facings, under a slate roof.
