Moat Lane Junction Station was situated where the Newtown and Machynlleth Railway (opened 1863) joined the Llanidloes and Newtown Railway, between Caersws and Newtown. The new junction station superceded Moat Lane station (nprn 407778) of 1859 on the Ll & N, some 500m to the west of the junction. Ordnance Survey mapping of 2008 indicates that the main station buildings are no longer standing, although the engine shed (rebuilt some time after 1945) and some minor buildings still survive.
