Abergavenny Junction station was at the northern end of a triangular junction where the Merthyr Tredegar and Abergavenny (later London and North Western) Railway of 1862 met the Newport Abergavenny and Hereford (later Great Western) Railway line. The station was rebuilt in 1870 and closed in 1958; the site has been largely built over although the tracks of the GW line are still in use.
