DescriptionIn 1975 Melin Nant was a roofless, ivy-covered ruin. Built of rubblestone 10.3 by 6.2 metres in plan, the upper storey was entered by a door in the west gable. Inside the east gable the position and size of the hurst frame, which would have carried two pairs of stones, was traceable from beam sockets in the walls. The wheelpit had been filled, but the position of the axle opening and sockets formerly supporting the launder indicates an overshot wheel 4.6 metres in diameter. An adjacent building, 6.6 by 4.6 metres, was still in use as a farm store.
