Description
A single earthwork rampart, approx. 45m long, cuts off the neck of a narrow steep-sided promontory to the north of Forest farm. It is bounded by the Teifi gorge to the east and steep slopes to the west. This would suggest a narrow Iron Age promontory fort, enclosing a settlement on the narrowing bluff north of Forest farm. Concentric field boundaries to the north of the prehistoric rampart, mimicking its curving shape and extending out onto the wider plateau to the north, suggest that these may be outer defences of prehistoric origin fossilised in later field boundaries. Discovered during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance on 20th May 2008.
