PeriodPost Medieval
DescriptionIn 1835 William Parsons, the brother of John Parsons of Pontardawe Works , built a new tinplate works above the ninth lock of the canal, on a location known as ? The Pheasant?. At this works there were three water-driven rolling mills in operation .
The length of the canal alongside the works site is well preserved with a big overflow sluice immediately to the north. In 1897 the OS 1:10560 map shows that the disused works and the silted dock-cum-mill pond were intact. However, by 1974 there was only a field with no obvious traces of a structure.
