Description
In about 1852 Messrs Smith and Mawdsley opened an Alkali Works on the foreshore at Pentre, about 1.6km to the south east of Flint. A siding from the adjacent Chester and Holyhead Railway served the works. The factory closed around 1890/2 and the site was demolished and cleared by 1899.
