DescriptionChrist Church occupies a levelled site on a hillside on the north side of Aberdare Road. It was opened April 1857, built in the Early Decorated style to designs of James S. Benest, architect of Norwich and former Borough surveyor.
The church is built of snecked facings with freestone dressings, and slate roofs. It consists of clerestoried nave with lean-to aisles, transepts, west and south porches and lower chancel.
The spacious interior has arched-brace roof trusses with collars. The transept arches linked to three-bay nave arcade with alternating piers and wall-posts, and flying timber arches to lean-to aisle roofs. Stained glass includes works by R.J.Newbery.
