Description
This group of buildings was developed at the exit of the Level 2 adit from the West Twll (NPRN 408820) after the level was opened c1854. In the row on the east side the first building was a weighbridge house, followed by a building housing a saw table driven by a steam engine sited behind the weighbridge house; there is no potential for water power at the site. All the later buildings are constructed of blocks with sawn ends, and include an office, a smithy with two hearths, and dressing sheds. All these uses had ceased by 1867 and some of the rooms were later adapted as barracks. To the north at SH 6664845651 are the ruins of another weighbridge house alongside the tramway leading to Level 3.
