Description
The Sea Bank Hotel stands on the site of a house of the same name built in 1867 by George Dement. The building was at one time a residential college for boys. Until c. 1930's the building was an Italianate, 2-storey structure with a tower, after refurbishment both in the 1930's and 40's, it became a large ship-like structure of 3 storeys and attics, with curved walls and a red-tiled gambrel roof.

Reference: COI colour tranparency, dated 1978.

The site was photographed by the RCAHMW during aerial reconnaissance on 24 June 2003. A comparison of the photograph and the vertical aerial photographs on the Royal Commission's Geographic Information System, shows that the car parking area around the hotel has increased in recent years. The oblique photograph shows an ornamental garden and grassed area.
