Description
1. Cropmarks of a broad-ditched, oval defended enclosure measuring approximately 118m east-west by 85m north-south, identified on Cambridge University aerial photo ref: BTV 085 (c. 1975) by Hugh Toller. The date of the enclosure, whether later prehistoric or medieval, is uncertain on the basis of morphology and siting.
T. Driver, RCAHMW, 24th April 2009.

2. The Plas Adda enclosure was revealed as a striking green on yellow cropmark during the 2018 drought, seen during Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 19th July 2018. The broad curving ditch of the enclosure is visible to the west of the house and farm, but the former eastern side is clearly fossilised in the boundaries and buildings of the farm complex. An aerial photograph of the site was used as the front cover image on British Archaeology magazine for November-December 2018.
