A water-powered woollen factory is shown and annotated on the first and second editions of the Ordnance Survey 25in map of 1889 and 1901. It lies in the bottom of the steep-sided valley of the Afon Clywedog on the west bank adjacent to a bridge on the original course of the road between Mallwyd and Welshpool (now A458) before the mid-nineteenth century re-alignment. A weir across the Afon Clywedog, some 85m upstream from the factory, provided water power. The factory is probably associated with a pandy (nprn 416536), some 100m to the northeast.
