Description
A modern, reinforced concrete beam bridge crosses the Afon Cegin at the head of the harbour, replacing an early nineteenth century cast-iron arched bridge on the same site. This earlier bridge had four ribs formed in three parts, bolted together. The arch rings of the outer ribs were pierced with ovals, and the spandrels had a pattern of diminishing circles. The bridge gave access to the harbour, and carried a narrow gauge railway siding from the wharves to the 'coal' warehouse on the west bank of the river (NPRN 409691). The ribs have been retained and are now stacked close by, at SH5923072606.
