    Description
    A Royal Artillery Camp was established on this site during the second World War. A 'BasicTraining' camp, it accommodated up to 8,000 troops. After the war the huts were used as a travellers' camp and by returning servicemen and their families until the early 1950s when it was cleared; in 1956 a school was built on the site.
