Description
Rhyd-galed is an early 19th century Nanhoron estate house with attached forge. A stone reset on a corner has a 1788 or 1728 date inscribed. The building is marked on the 1839 Tithe Map as Rhydgaled Smithy House occupied by Thomas Roberts.

The house is built of rubble stone in long dark green rough-faced blocks with slate roof and stone end stacks, larger to the left. It is two-storey, double-fronted and offset to the right, with 2x16-pane hornless sashes to each floor. There are slate sills and slab lintels. Attached is the former smithy with an end stone stack. The smithy has a massive fireplace with a curved timber bressumer and one collar-truss to the roof.
