'A hilltop farmhouse on the east side of Cwm Philkins, extensively modernised and extended, but retaining the core of a late-seventeenth century hearth-passage house. The adjoining cowshed (which was probably an addition) has been converted into a dining room with modern beams. The original house is now a single large room, but formerly it had a heated inner room separated from the hall by a stone or stud partition. The hall fireplace is impressively large, and has a brick oven in the side and a modern lintel. The winding stairs are presently blocked up. The only dateable feature to survive all the modernisation is the joist-beam ceiling, which has thin, closely set beams with broad chamfers and ogee stops. The first floor has been partitioned up into modern rooms with an inserted attic, but there are two trusses of the wall-post type'
