Laid out in the Edwardian period, the park covers over 22 acres (or 9 hectares) of land and consists largely of sporting fields. The western section of the park is comprised of a children's playground, rugby pitch and football pitch. At the centre of the site there is a bowling green, tennis court, playground, and pavilion as well as a fine example of an Edwardian bandstand which is the only remaining example within Caerphilly County Borough. The eastern section of the park comprises the cricket pitch with separate pavilion and changing rooms.
