Description
A fragment of a 'floriated' crossn was discovered in 2010 at the base of the ground-floor window to the left of the porch of Laleston Inn (NPRN 19113). The cross is of C13th/C14th date and there are several comparable crosses in the Vale, e.g. at Llanblethian and Llantwit Major. The cross presumably derives from a neighbouring church and is incorporated in a post-reformation vernacular building of c. 1600. It is an interesting addition to the relatively snall number of known floriated crosses in south Wales. RFS/RCAHMW/October 2010
