Description
A quern or pounder was reportedly discovered at the medieval vaccary (cattle ranch) of Hen Ddinbych (NPRN 303472) around 1880. It is described as an octagonal block of sandstone about a foot high and 13 in. across, on the top of which is a circular depression about 10 in. in diameter and 2? in. in depth, with a small hole in the centre and another in the front. In the lower part of the front on the outside is a square hole.
