Description
Sir Rhys Rhys-Williams donated this park, which covers an area of 10 acres, to Rhondda Urban District Council in 1913. Although original plans provided for a bowling green, tennis courts, and a children's playground, the demands of inter-war sport ensured that a football field complete with pavilion was also included in the development of the site. By the mid-1930s, Garth Park had the football pitch, three tennis courts, a bowling green, children's playground, and miniature golf course. Open-air swimming baths were built at the end of the decade. Only the playing field and children's playground have survived.
