Description
Opened on 15 May 1931 in a ceremony attended by, among others, Aneurin Bevan, Ebbw Vale's swimming bath was the showpiece of the town's Welfare Association. Financed initially through an anonymous donation of £100, the securing of substantial grants from the Miners? Welfare Fund actually enabled the construction of the bath. It was built by voluntary labour. Alongside the baths were 56 cubicles for the use of both sexes and additional accommodation for children. The baths were painted in green and white. The lido was closed in 1961.
