Bod Cywarch (in English (loosely) 'Hemp's dwelling') was the home of Wilfred James Hemp who was Secretary to the RCAHMW between 1928 and 1946. From here Hemp ran the Commission following its evacuation from London in World War Two.

There is a memorial tablet to W.J. Hemp on the north wall of St. Catherine's Church (nprn 11898) in Criccieth.
