Description
The mountain trail from near Maen Llia to the Usk Valley. This track is the old toll road superseded by the modern road through the Llia valley. It is believed to follow part of the line of the Roman Road, Sarn Helen (407122), linking the fort at Coelbren on the Heads of the Valleys, to the fort at Brecon Gaer though there are not now any obvious traces of ancient earthwork work along this stretch of it.
The old Turnpike road is a 2m-3m wide metalled track following a winding route as it crosses Bryn Melyn to Pont Blaen-cwm-du where it meets a tollhouse (NPRN 84776).
