Cardigan Secondary School originated as the Intermediate School which was opened on 21 September 1898. It is thought that the school lost its county status in 1949 and was succeeded by the Ysgol Uwchradd Cardigan/Cardigan Secondary School. The building is substantial, single-storey, red brick with a slate roof and central bell-tower.
