St. Cyres School is an 11-18 mixed, English medium, non-denominational Comprehensive School. The school houses some 1,250 pupils in Years 7-13 on the outskirts of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan. The school was previously split over two sites, Penarth and Dinas Powis, but in 2014, as part of Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools Programme, a new Penarth Learning Community was established which brought St Cyres School onto the same site as Ysgol Erw’r Delyn, Ysgol Maes Dyfan and Ashgrove School, with these three later schools operating under the new banner of Ysgol Y Deri, a special school which caters for students aged 3-19 years with a range of learning and physical needs and autism. The new St Cyres School was designed by HLM Architects and built by Bouygues. Upon completion, the Penarth Learning Community, built at a cost of £48m, became the largest learning facility in Wales. Demolition of the old St Cyres schools formed the second part of the redevelopment, which also involved the formation of new playing fields and landscaped areas.
