The Ordnance Survey map for Denbighshire 1874 shows a greater extent of plantation, compared to the current map, that includes ponds. The areas of formerly planted with trees show as earthworks on aerial reconnaissance by RCAHMW from 10 December 2009. There is a possible pre-historic barrow within the formerly planted area.
