Edwardsville Swimming Pool was opened in 1937 following a Special Areas Commission grant to Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council of £6,033. This was one of just twelve open-air swimming pools funded in this way across South Wales and one of two within the boundaries of the Merthyr local authority. Converted in 1986 into an indoor pool, the pool was closed in 2008.
