Ferndale Swimming Pool, located in Darran Park, Ferndale, was constructed in 1936 following a Special Areas Commission grant to Rhondda Urban District Council of £6,741. This was one of three open-air swimming baths funded in this way that were built in the Rhondda in the late-1930s and one of number across South Wales. The baths were closed in 1994 and subsequently demolished and filled in. The site is now occupied by a children's playground and a basketball court.
