Description
Porth Swimming Pool, located in Bronwydd Park, Porth, was constructed in 1936 following a Special Areas Commission grant to Rhondda Urban District Council of £6,987. This was one of three open air swimming pools funded in this way that were built in the Rhondda and one of just twelve across South Wales. Originally, the pool was to have been funded by public subscription and in the course of the late-1920s and early-1930s reasonable sums of money were raised in this way. The open-air baths were closed by Rhondda Borough Council in 1992 and converted into an indoor facility which remains extant.
