Description
Darran Park, Ferndale, is an Edwardian Public Park notable for the natural lake - Llyn y Forwyn - present on the site. Originally consisting of public walkways and a small recreation ground upon which the first incarnation of Ferndale RFC played their home matches, the site was developed by Rhondda Urban District Council during the inter-war years and now features tennis courts, a bowling green, a children's playground, and war memorial. An open-air swimming pool was built in the late-1930s but has been subsequently demolished. The bowling green was first laid in 1925.
