Description
Founded in 1905, Llanishen Golf Club began in the aftermath of the destruction of the former Lisvane Golf Club which was formed in 1898 and disbanded in 1902 when the majority of its members transferred to the Radyr Golf Club (NPRN: ). Until 1923, Llanishen Golf Club continued to use the 9-hole course that lay to the right of the Rhymney Railway line. The present 18-hole Golf Course, which lies on land formerly part of Cwm Farm, therefore dates from the 1920s. In common with many courses, a number of holes were taken by the War Agricultural Department for use as farmland during the Second World War and were not fully restored until 1950. The present club house was constructed in 1995 though the original pavilion at the site was moved from the lands of the Lisvane Golf Club in 1923. The course was served by the former Cefn Onn Railway Halt.
