Formed in 1910 by a number of prominent local dignitaries including the famous Rugby International Willie Llewellyn, Rhondda Golf Club occupies a prominent site atop Penrhys Mountain in the Rhondda. The present 18-hole course is not the original location of the Rhondda Golf Club. For its first few years, Rhondda Golf Club ran a links course at Gelli Faulog Farm, Tonypandy.
