Description
Referred to by the Geological Survey in 1907 (1). Coal was extracted from the Astell Vein which immediately overlies the Farewell Rock in Cwm Garw, `where it was once worked?. A coal level is shown at the given NGR, in the south-east side of the river cutting, on the first edition OS plan 1880s, when preumably it was still operating.
