The school, which dates from 1973, has been housed in the current building since 1996. The school's commitment to sustainability and citizenship has been recognised by the Welsh Assembly Goverment's Environment Minister, Jane Davidson. The school has an energy-efficient boiler and water butts. In March 2011, the school was in the process of applying to have solar panels fitted to the roof.
