Description
Built in 1868 as a college, the YMCA took possession in 1881 after out-growing their first site in Herbert Place. The building was refurbished by the YMCA at a cost of £3142 and featured tennis courts and a fives court in addition to football, cricket, and gymnastics which were also provided for. A playground at the rear of the premesis is marked on the 1880 Town Plan (NGR: SS6537393190). The YMCA remained at Dynevor Place until 1911 when they secured the Longlands Hotel and moved to their present location on the Kingsway (NPRN: 31927). The building became part of the Dynevor School.
