Description
A terrace of eight red brick houses facing roughly northwest onto Llangollen Road. They number 1-7 (including 1a) and were completed around 1891, as seen from the date stone between numbers 4 and 5. Each house is built to a standard late 19th century design with an offset doorway and a window on each floor, although number 7 differs slightly in that its main facade contains a two storey canted bay window rather than the simple single hung or awning windows found on the other properties. Number 7 also has a gable roof over the window with bargeboards and a decorative finial. All windows and several doors have been replaced by UPVC units and have stone window or door heads, many of which are painted. An interesting feature is the intricately detailed moulded terracotta eaves running the length of the terrace. This rises into a pitched slate roof with decorative holed ridge tiles, which have been removed over numbers 2 and 3. 4 red brick mid-ridge chimneys serve the eight properties. Small front gardens separate the terrace from the road and these are surrounded by low red brick boundary walls surmounted by decorative iron railings. Number 7 is again slightly different as it has a higher wall with no railings and appears to be constructed from newer brick.
