Description
Two large detached houses, likely built either towards the end of the nineteenth century or the beginning of the 20th. They are constructed mainly from red Ruabon brick, although one of Fernleigh's gable walls reveals some stonework ? a not unusual combination of materials for this area and time period. The main facades of both properties are rather ornate in appearance.

Garfield Villa is a double fronted property with two double storey canted bay windows on either side of the arched doorway. Directly over this another window leads out to an iron balcony with decorative railings supported by two intricately detailed posts. The roof is slate and has a row of decorative holed ridge tiles and two mid-ridge gable chimney stacks at each gable end, built from the same red brick as the walls. One gable wall however has been rendered.

Fernleigh is of a similar construction, although single fronted. The offset two storey canted bay window is the main feature of the building's front elevation and decorative terracotta panels can be seen at first floor level. The doorway is set back in a porch and there is another bay window above with a moulded brickwork window head. There are also several bands of decorative blue brick running across the main elevation. More decorative features can be found in the roof, which has holed ridged tiles and ironwork under the eaves. There is one tall mid ridge chimney stack.

Both properties are set back from the road and have small front gardens enclosed by boundary walls made of Cefn sandstone surmounted by painted iron railings.
