A 400 metre-long leat from the Afon Sirhywi supplied water to Argoed Corn Mill and also to an adjacent woollen mill. The corn mill is depicted as a working mill on the 1st and 2nd editions of the 25-inch O. S. map, but by 1920, the date of the 3rd edition, the mill building had disappeared.
