Description
A working corn mill is depicted on the first and second editions of the 25-inch Ordnance Survey maps of 1882 and 1901, with a large mill pond supplied with water from the Dowlais Brook. By 1920, the date of the third edition map, the mill was shown as disused and the pond had been obliterated. The building has stone rubble walls with cambered brick heads to the openings; it has two storeys and a loft, with single-storey wings to the north and to the west. From map evidence, the waterwheel was on the south gable of the building and the wheelpit is still visible. The mill has since been converted to a dwelling and the area is now part of the Cwmbran New Town development.
