Cwm Colliery was opened between 1900 and 1919. When the adjacent Cwm Coking Works complex (nprn 91585) opened in 1958, coal was supplied directly from the colliery until its closure in 1986, since when coal was brought to the site by road and rail from various sources, until the coking works itself closed in 2003.
