Description
At Bassaleg Junction, Pye Corner, there are three railway bridges in parallel: Monmouth Railway Co (stone, 1853), Alexandra, Newport Docks & Railway Co (blue brick, 1878) and Great Western Railway (steel on stone piers, 1895). This was a meeting point of three tramroads: Rumney (from Rhymney Ironworks), Monmouthshire Canal Company's tramroad (Ebbw and Sirhowy Valleys) and Park Mile Railway (a short stretch through Tredegar park, owned by Sir Charles Morgan).
