Description
In 1901 the Rhymney Railway moved its rolling stock operations to here from Cardiff Docks. After Great Western Railway amalgamation Taff Vale Railway and Brecon & Merthyr Railway work was undertaken. A new Erecting Shop was built by the GWR, work on locomotives commencing in 1926. After 1923 no new carriages or wagons were built but repair work continued. Other new buildings and machinery turned the factory into a major GWR facility. Closed 1963 with the onset of dieselisation and became a Trading Estate.
